Process of obtaining a dental crown

Impressions are taken with special materials that mold to the tooth to create a duplicate of the surrounding area. These impressions are then sent to a dental laboratory with special instructions from the dentist to the ceramist for the fabrication of the final crown. This includes specifics on the color, shape, and size of the restoration. In the meantime, a temporary crown is placed over the prepared tooth to protect it. Dr. Andrew Greenberg calls the patient back to the office when the restoration arrives at his practice approximately a week later when it is ready to be cemented in place.
