Smile makeovers are done for patients who are ready to make changes to the way their smiles look. They are completed strictly for aesthetic purposes. Patients interested in having a smile makeover will first visit Dr. Andrew Greenberg for an examination and consultation, during which all one’s questions can be answered. Patients will be evaluated to determine if they are viable candidates for veneers. Before veneers are done, patients must address any oral health issues they may have including tooth decay and periodontal disease. Once good dental health has been achieved, patients can begin the process of having porcelain veneers created.

The process starts with preparation of the natural teeth. This requires removal of some of the enamel before impressions are made. These impressions are sent to an outside laboratory for the fabrication of the veneers, which may take a week or two to complete. During this time, patients are fitted with temporary veneers over the teeth until they are able to have their permanent veneers placed by the dentist. Veneers are bonded using a special material, which can hold them in place for several years with proper maintenance. Patients must continue to visit Dr. Andrew Greenberg for regular examinations to ensure decay and disease do not develop on the natural tooth, as veneers cannot protect teeth from these concerns.
